Kit,

I wanted to let you know that I received my 6’ spinning rod today. I tested it out on Lake Nocona by skipping a Senko under a boat dock. This is one fantastic rod! It is very sensitive and has plenty of backbone. I caught a 4 pounder who engulfed a Senko without a problem. I wasn’t able to drop shot today because there was too high of wind but I am sure that it is going to work great. Give me a couple of weeks and I am going to have you build me a 6’6 MH worm rod. I need to space these out a few days so my wife doesn’t complain too much!! Ha Ha. I’ll be in touch.

Thanks again,

David Franklin

Hey Kit
Thank you very much for the custom rods you made me. This past weekend (20th Feb. 2005) I fished the first Bassmaster Series Texas Tournament out at Sam Rayburn. I just received three of your Black Diamond Rods and I was a little nervous about using them for the first time. I didn't know what to expect out of them. I would just like to say they didn't need any breaking in. The action of those rods was excellent. I fished the co-angler side of the competition and weighed in a 3 fish limit for 6.8 lbs. I caught all my fish with a 7ft Heavy rod with a 9" handle. Every fish that picked up my bait, I caught. LOVE THE ACTION, SENSITIVITY, AND STRENGTH!!!
Thank you again for making great rods.

You would not believe the quality that Kit puts into these rods! They are awesome. I love the medium/light Stealth Shad rod. I can feel every single turn of the blades of my spinnerbaits with it. While throwing crankbaits, not only can I cast a country mile, I can feel the baits touch everything they run across. I highly recommend these rods to anyone serious about owning an excellent quality rod!

Kit,

Can't say enough great things about the two rods you made for me. Every detail is great and they fish like a dream. I couldn't get a better rod for the money. Yours are better quality than the off-the-shelf "big name" brands by far! {6'10" Black Diamond Spiral Wrap MH Action & 6'10" Spinning Rod MH Action}

Kit,

Words cannot describe the Amazon Adventure; it was wonderful. Our boat (14 fishermen) caught 433 peacocks (there are 7 species) and me and my fishing partner caught 142 of those w/ 5 over 10 lbs! The biggest fish of the trip was 19.5# and was caught by our sponsor of the trip.

The rods performed wonderfully and I caught my biggest (14lbs) on the one you made me. The tip action was perfect for the big Woodchoppers and High Rollers we were throwing. Just wanted to let you know that I could not have asked for the rods to perform any better.

Kit,

Had to tell you about my fishing trip with the new rod you made me. First night out, Mike Page and I headed out for some wade fishing near the North Jetty in Galveston. Right before sunset, I hooked this big mother of a shark. I really didn't think I'd be able to land it, but my rod held up like a beauty. The shark weighed in at just over 50 pounds, and was 54 inches long. The fight took nearly two hours before we landed that sucker.

The next night, I hooked a 25-pound redfish on the same rod.

Two catches, 75 pounds of fish - and my rod didn't flinch.

We ended up catching several more sharks and speckled trout, and I couldn't be happier with this rod. It did everything I asked it to do and more. My wife and daughters loved using it because it was so light and maneuverable; they caught several sharks of their own, including a decent-sized hammerhead. For a while, I wasn't sure if they were going to give it back to me.

I'm writing you with this because I figure if your rods can handled 50 pounds of shark all at once, they should do pretty well with any bass or crappie your other customers might encounter.

You've got a customer for life now, man.

Thanks for the thrills

Gary Stallard

Carol caught several fish on the spinning rod you repaired for her this week. Among the fish was a 3, couple of 4's and two 5's. Also she tried out the casting rod we bought from you. It really works well for 1/4 oz bandit crank baits, and Carol caught a fish on it yesterday. Now we have to get a reel to put on it. She loves that casting rod. Thought you would get a kick out of hearing this.

Dear Texas Sidewinder Co.,

My name is Felix and the reason I'm writing to you is because since using your rod my life has changed.

Having received your spiral wrapped "Baitcasting" rod for Christmas '98, I've just now started using it this late February '99 and my fishing has never been better since...

My name is Lenard R. Grappe'. I live in East Texas and have been using Joe & Mary's rods for about 5 years. I use the spiral wrapped rod. This rod sure increases your sensitivity to your bait so you can feel those little or soft bites.

On Lake Sam Rayburn 1997 top six of the State of Texas B.A.S.S. Federation Championship, I used a 6'6" Sidewinder rod to catch the largest stringer (5 fish, 24.56#) of the tournament. I think that if I didn't have a Sidewinder rod I would not have finished fourth in this tournament.

Also, on April 24, 1999 I won a $14,900 Triton bass boat in the McDonald's Tournament using the same rod. I'm telling you that the Texas Sidewinder rods that Joe & Mary build are very good rods. Try one for yourself and you will see the difference in your fishing.

I recently had the opportunity to use my TEXAS SIDEWINDER 7'6" Popping Rod at the coast (Upper Laguna Madre and Port Aransas area). I rigged the rod with a Shimano Calcutta 200 and Stren 2lb. line.

The TEXAS SIDEWINDER performed better than I ever expected. I can only surmise that it's UNIQUE design, the quality MATERIAL used and quality CRAFTSMANSHIP contribute to it's success and performance.

I was able to OUT CAST my partner on an average of 15 yards in light to slightly moderate winds (This is important when fishing shallow water in and up against the grass or a shell reef). SENSITIVITY was unmatched. HOOK SET was responsive.

I wrote this letter to let you and others know how well the TEXAS SIDEWINDER performs on the SALTWATER species. As to FRESHWATER species, I would suspect the TEXAS SIDEWINDER performs admirably as well.

Thank you for an EXCELLENT, well made product. It will be a fishing rod I will CHERISH and FISH for many years to come.
